Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

For myself I really (no, honestly) must get my fish room completed (some staging renovation required after a desperate water leak from one of the tanks in the top tier was left unresolved and the staging started to 'decompose'.
I also want to finish the 'ring main' from the air blower to feed all the tanks (using a higher output blower than the one I'm using now. - It's all renovated and is ready to go - all I have to do is get my brain in gear for long enough to start the job) - (but obviously not until the racking has been repaired).
I'm also planning a 'sort of' automated water change system, but this might have to wait until the other tasks are completed first.
As to hopes for 2016, I have several less-common species of fish which I am hoping I'll be able to coax into wishing to reproduce, but that's a most definite 'hope' rather than a 'plan'.
Now, to throw the topic open to our other members (and those who don't post as regularly - after all it's only a bit of fun, anyway).
John
p.s. Happy New Year to each and every one of you - thanks for sticking with us throughout the year - and to our recent 'new arrivals' Welcome along, and a Happy New Year to you also.
Oops, I just realised I've posted this a day early, it's not 2016 until tomorrow!
Oh well it can stay now - it'll give everyone a day to think of their replies.

hi all , firstly can I wish all members a very happy new year and good fishkeeping for2016, thanks for putting up with my many questions being returning to the hobby after 20 years . John a special thank you for running a really great and informative forum would be lost without in . My new years resolution will be to learn as much as I can about the hobby in order to give my fish a healthy and happy home
Thanks for the generous words Robert - but, as I always need to point out, I really am only the person dealing with the 'peripheries' of the Forum - all real credit must unconditionally go to Darragh. He deals with all the proper Administration and without him the whole thing would have gone 'down the toilet' years ago.

Tho honestly it looks like it might be getting there finally!
I'll help out anyone where I can as always as well!
I'd like to change my canna tanks to slightly bigger ones! I have a couple of larger tanks that need a bit of tlc before they can be used.... so I'll have to get that done!
And other than that, get to meet some of the lads that have helped me so much over the last few years! I know we talk about it, but we really must make an effort to try make it a bi monthly meet up and talk somewhere
It is surprising what you will learn just by meeting more of the people on the forum

Would like to replace my vision 180 as it is looking a bit the worse for wear and the aquabasis has run out of nutrients.
