Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Whip round to replace Darren's stolen pump.

I'm not sure if everyone knows that someone stole Darren's pump from the hall today.

I thought if we all made a donation we would be able to get him a replacement for it.

So I pledge a tenner to get the ball rolling...who's next?

I will donate a tenner too, but I think the club should replace it as they made enough money yesterday for a thousand pumps

Personally I'm fine with this either way but if it's decided to go along the collection route I will happily act as coordinator.

I'll post my address (pun unintended) if we decide to make collection and perhaps it could be made into a 'sticky' to keep it at the forefront of peoples' minds?

Anyway, I'll hold off until it's decided what is to be done.

Don't know if £10.00 UK will be any good but willing to donate it.

Such a shame that there are people like that around though. :(

sean (works for us) just told me he heard the same guy outside saying "he got a pump" outside the venue.Kept comming to our stand sniffing around..right at the end he came over and said "any freebies going?" was on the mooch all day. I saw him unplug that filter and remove it (if it was the one on the stage) he should be confronted and made return if you ask me.I thought he was a member and was moving it to another tank so I said nothing at the time.

dont make me come over there.

Think the club should refund Darren as well although good gesture from JohnH, should make the photos a bit more interesting anyway, spot the tealeaf, unfortunatly I only took a couple of overview shots of the entire hall setup with people in it but others may have more revealing pics from the day.

Had to be a fishkeeper who took it though, who else would need one, bad form thieving like that.

The scum don't need a reason to nick something, if it's not nailed down they're away with it.

I'll throw in as well.

I appreciate the lovely gesture, but there is no need. It is a small price to pay for a great day out.

Honestly folks there is no need for a whip round.
I would hate a small incident like this put a damper on the weekend.
If you really want to part with your money buy me some lucky raffle tickets at the next show.

Sorry,

There is EVERY need to get you a replacement, I sort of knew this would be your reaction...that's why I didn't tell you of the idea last night.

No-one is feeling obliged here, we're all offering a contribution because we want to so sit back and accept your fate...
