Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Off the rails. was created by Anthony (Anthony)
I seem to have bent a few noses the past few days.
Maybe my posts were a little hasty and I said some things that
maybe I should have kept to myself but removing the dyed fish
post was detrimental to the forum. I feel very passionate about
the removal of dyed fish and its process from all walks of life
wether it be in the pet trade or for scientific purposes.

I had only resigned a few minutes when my posts were being edited and deleted. At least I got a pm for the first one.
I wrote untoward regarding dyed fish or the post about the
IFAS. I was a bit hasty in saying I will ban anyone form the
lFKS if they keep dyed fish. That would not happen, I am not
a dictator. I would try to inform the mmeber as best I could
about the process of dying fish.

Regarding the remaining Admins. I said a few things that were
out of line and I appologise for it. I just got caught up in
the momentum and let rip.
This is totally out of chatarter for me. Happens from being
a Union Rep.I have to be on the ball and be ready with tough
replies when needed. Had a bad day in work and it spilled over
onto the forum.

Finally. I am the Chairman of the LFKS and I cannot get into
the Admin section. Can someone look after this.
I hope no more treads/posts are going to be deleted.
It is the last thing the forum needs. Very little fish related
at the moment.
I won`t be around for a while so hope the rest of you can look
after the forum.
All the best.......Anthony

OK, good can we get on with it now.

I have deleted the Vanishing posts thread you and I conducted in the wee hours, it made no sense to anyone else anyway, so that's gone. There should be no other post that need to be deleted by admins.

The thread on dyed fish was a good and there were several excellent posts, I prpose moving it back to the general forum for further reasonable discussion, it will be edited to remove some of the crappy bits. Jsut waiting to make sure the other admins agree.
