Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

**Atlantaquaria** - A new sponsor ! was created by Valerie (Valerie)

Dear all,

Last Thursday, I have visited Atlantaquaria in Galway and have been reserved an excellent welcome by Kevin and Colette.

Atlantaquaria, the National Aquarium of Ireland, have the largest display of marine and fresh water life found in Ireland with more than 150 species on display. The tanks are well kept and it is amazing to see what really lives in the depth of our seas and rivers.

The many displays have been tastefully designed to represent local sites and biotopes. Both children and adult alike can enjoy strolling from tank to tank observing the species on show.

In addition to the traditional tour of the Aquarium, Atlantaquaria also offers workshops for children where they can “Be a Marine Scientist for the day” spending the day discovering the aquatic world on the beach, in the Aquarium, in the Explorer Laboratory, and in the Nautilus Classroom.

The open tanks and touch pools are also of great interest to all.

For more information, go to www.nationalaquarium.ie.

Atlantaquaria have agreed to sponsor both the ITFS discussion forum and the CFKS Galway.

They have kindly offered a 10% discount on the entrance fee for all club card holders. They would be delighted to open their doors to club visits and have offered to guide us in front and behind the curtains on these occasions (I tell you, it’s impressive to see the whole set up).

They are also going to provide us with prizes for some competitions throughout the year.

For the CFKS club, they will also be giving us the opportunity to invite speakers in order to enlighten us on some chosen subjects throughout the year.

A new section for Atlantaquaria has been created under the Sponsors’ category and Kevin will be updating us on the various happenings and events at the National Aquarium. ( Click here )

Thank you very much Kevin and Colette for your help.

Valerie

Note – Watch this space for further news as we are also in the process of talking to the Bray Sea-Life aquarium !

I second that John. Valerie make sure to let us know when its on (that's if there is space of course). I haven't been to Galway in a year or so and its about time I made another visit, maybe you could coincide it will the monthly CFKS meeting and a few of us could join in and see how the \"west coast massive\" role.

Lead me not into temptation, For I can find it myself!
