Pet Expo this weekend

Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

For anyone around Cork this weekend, check out Mallow racecourse, there is a pet exhibition going on there tomorrow & Sunday which is one for anyone who is a lover of animals. There will be an aquatic section but not sure how big it will be.Per the website there will be 150 species on show there! I think the Munster fishkeeping asc will be represented there so I'll you all know how it goes. Id imagine they will have some aquatic displays and the like.
Check out

Its coming to Dublin on October 17-19th 2008. So plenty of time for all of you in Leinster to plan ahead. If your in Munster its on tomorrow (Saturday 5th and 6th of July).
I'll let people know how it is after Ive visited the place tomorrow. Ive gotten the all clear for a pet kitten on the strict condition I dont come home with more fish or more tanks!!
So a baby kitten thats been rescued is what Im getting tomorrow. (Im a cat person ok! A dog nearly killed me when I was young so have a liking for Cats instead haha!).Will probably post a pic of it and all! Cant resist a pic of a kitten surely! lol

I went to it alright John. I went on a Saturday morning and it appeared that some of the stalls hadnt fully set up yet. Its not as big as I thought it would be. When your entering you get complimentary Whiskers or Pedigree pack and then you buy a programme if you wish. Inside the event its very much a case of stalls all upon one another and alot of stuff being sold that have nothing to do with pets. There was a guy selling hot tubs and Jacuzzi's as well as hoovers!!
On the pet scene there was alot of dogs, not for sale but for adoption (although there are 1 or 2 animal sanctuarys represented who will take your details if you wish to adopt a pet off them, you wont get them on the day of course). Altho there is a very good exhibition of birds of the wild such as eagles and owls and hawks. These were impressive alright espically the giant eagle. He was very impressive. The fish stand was only being set up by the Munster fishkeepers at the time so wasnt set up when I was looking so disapointed with that but to be fair they admitted they were behind schedule. Im sure Sundays display was far better. Also there was a dog display of dogs catching frisbees',doing jumps etc! All in all it wasnt quite as good as I expected but Im sure the Dublin one will have more stalls and more emphasis placed on it. Having said I did adopt a kitten from it and she is fab company at home now! Mind you she has taken a liking to my fish tank! Luckily the hood and glass keep her out!
