Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

why did u photograph me standing beside lanky lampeye, i look like a midget:laugh: . next time i'll make sure to stand beside a normal height man (bernard) or even a woman. i am 5 ft 9 and a half when i dont slump, so fran must be about 7 foot or else i'm standing in a hole.

That's picture 55 of the OP's linked photos, I got a great laugh from that :-)

Thanks Darragh for posting all the photos, it is great to see them all againa dn there were a few there I actually missed and I was there most of the weekend!

Thanks to Astid and everyone else that posted photos, I needn't bother downloading mine now the show was really well covered.

Great idea i'm sure most of the owners wouldn't mind writing them up for their own fish.

ha ha got a good laugh out of dereks dodgy deals.... great idea for the next show acara and it would be easy to organise. As you say it would really make it more interesting for newcomers and even for me. I dont know much about cichlids so even names would be helpful.

Another idea for the next time would be a meet and greet area so that people from the forum and form other clubs could have a central meeting point. there were several people who were to meet up and swap fish etc and didnt know what the other one looked like. Several of them were paged to the stage. It would also be a great idea for this area to be a club area so that people could get info on clubs in their area or just plain join up. anyway discussion for another time.

great day all the same

I don't anyway and I am almost sure that I did take one, I remember trying to get is all in the frame, so either the card in the camera of the brain in the head is faulty.

In case anyone does not know what fish that is, it was the lovely cat that won best catfish and best in show.

I was just thinking on what ACARA was saying, why not do it now, if everybody who had fish in the show did a little synopsis on their fish, like..................
1. SIZE
2. COLOUR/PATTERN
3. WHAT IT’s TEMPRAMERN IS LIKE
4. WHAT FISH IT’s COMPATABLE WITH AND WHAT IT’s NOT COMPATABLE WITH.
5. WHAT CONDITIONS IT LIKES - WATER, TEPMRATURE ETC.
6. BREEDING
7. FEEDING
Or anything else you can think of and maybe the IFAS Judges could have a look over them and have them ready for next years show............

good idea.
it would be best done on a small card.

30 tanks specialise in african cichlids, angelfish and various catfish

Finally i'm back on line. I've had trouble with posts and couldn't view photos.
Cheers for sharing the photos people. I dropped my camera in to a tank a day or two before the show so no photos from me.
Good to see everyone had a great day out.:)
