Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

i had a really great time .... meeting allo the forum members whose advice has always been a great help ... and also finally putting faces to names .
I would like to say a huge thanx to Darragh for the fantastic fish i got from him ..... to Dimitri for all his help and the amazing plants i got ....and also to the committee for all their hard work .
I finally got my hands on a new tank and will be setting it up tomorrow ( god bless that raffle ) so i'm sure i will have loads of posts up looking for advise and telling you about the progress .
Thanx again folks
martin
P.S. ...... Dimitri is definitely gonna close the shop in dunlaoighre if he ever see's the two feckers from limerick coming in his direction again
P.SS. ...... just a quick question ......although there was a best in show picked on the day (and a very worthy one at that ) , what was everyone's favourite fish on the day ??
mine was definitely the hoplo catfish "Hoplosternum thoracatum " ...... and the zebra plec , even though seeing him meant having to use a flashlamp ... lol

The Best in Show winner was a beauty and was delighted that I had picked him out as my personal best in show in advance of the judging results. Nice one Platy252. Now please get on with breeding them!
Hard to pick are favourite from all the interesting fish there, but I think I would have to give the altum my first choice, it was not displaying very well when the hall was packed but at 6 in teh morning after looking under the black plastic that was covering it, it was a stunning fish for it's age. By next year or the year after it will be a real killer.
Apologies on behalf of my anti-social H zebra! I only brought him for people to see one in the flesh and unfortunately even over night we were unable to convince him to come out of the cave! He was not there to be judged, he is just too small, but it would have been nice if I could have got him out!
