Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

After a few years in your company, you fishkeeping-mad lot, I am now resigning from my post of Administrator on this forum. As some of you may already know, I have had some serious health issues recently and will be undergoing more treatment in the New Year. I will not be in a position to look after you and the forum.
So, thank you all for these very enjoyable times. I have had a lot of fun for most parts and made some very good friends. It was a very difficult decision to take and I am sad to have to step down now.
I will keep my tanks going and continue posting on the forum as a member.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the very best for 2010!
Keep the forum as vibrant and happy as it has been and look after these fish!

Valerie

I too will be very sad about your departure from the Forum and all the work you do in the background, helping everybody out and keeping the peace. I really hope everything goes well for you on the treatment front and you beat this thing once and for all.
Hope you have a great family Christmas and a joyful New Year.
Tom & Jo.

Salut Valerie,

Very sorry on one hand to see that you are stepping down as admin on the site, but very pleased that you are putting yourself first for a change, that's most important. I wish you the very best with your treatment in the New Year, I hope you have a great Christmas in the meantime.
Now I have to come out of the closet to say that for anyone that ever has had any dealings with "Admin" if they got a short sharp reply it was from me when I was covering for Admin, if the reply was polite and detailed, it's pretty safe to say that it was not me and it was Valerie you were dealing with. It would not e fair for people to think it was you, now that you're stepping down.
Thank you for all the work you did here, I know better than most a lot of the heartache and grief that goes on in the background. You did and marvellous job. Please keep posting as a regular member and stay in touch.
Sincere best wishes
Daragh (sometimes AKA cranky admin).
