Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

was passing wackers on long mile road so called in for a visit. it was a hive of activity and the lads were reorganising the fish section. it looked well and they had some nice fish at very good prices.
they are changing the name of the shop and although gavin will be missed the three lads des, steven and sean are all avid and knowledgable fishkeepers and nice people, so i am sure it will remain a good shop for the unusual as well as the more common species.

30 tanks specialise in african cichlids, angelfish and various catfish

Always great to see a re-org going on, a change is always a good thing, as they say it reveals more than you might not normally see and the performance gets stronger and tighter.
Hope to see the triumvarate soon

I'm delighted to hear that Derek,
It was always one of my ports of call when venturing to the Capital.

Dropped in there today myself and got a really nice Blue Marble Super-delta male Betta, a steal at €6.50!

The guy who served me was great, although I felt bad that I couldn't understand half of what he was saying (I'm recovering from a pretty bad ear infection) and had to do a lot of smiling and nodding. lol.

It's quite the trek for me to get out there (a bus and a luas journey) but it was totally worth it.

cheers everyone !!!
it's nice to hear some positive feedback
been flat-out lately emptying bays, refilling bays etc., etc.
we are no longer stocking marine fish
we have been freeing bays so we can dedicate the whole fish house to freshwater fish and also a bay for brackish fish
should be exciting
plenty of space now for some of the more unusual fish and some nice big cichlids and stuff !!!
the shop is under new management and is now called "purrfect pets"
with all the changes that are going on lately the shelves are slightly under stocked and the plants have also been affected
this is something that we are working on and we will have it sorted soon
anyway thanks again and i personally am delighted with all the changes that are going on
we might aswell concentrate all our efforts on freshwater fish, wether it be the bread and butter fish for people who are new to the hobby or for those who are looking for something a little different
we aim to please

regards
des
