Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Torch LPS Placement
I was in Seahorse yesterday and after spending a few minutes there I couldnt resist and got a Torch LPS.
The tank is almost 3 months old and is currently hosting a couple of hermit crabs, a boxing crab, a few snails, skunk shrimp, 2 clowns and 1 jaw fish.
So yesterday I got a bit of algae which I placed on the back of the aquarium and a torch coral.
So my question is, have I placed it in the right place?
I have the feeling that it might feel a bit constricted so I was thinking of removing a bit of the live rock around him to give him more room to expand?

So what do you recon?
The jawfish has his burrow just below the coral, the clowns normally shoal on the top of the tank

So I think I will let it be for a while. I think that its growing fine considering it has been in the aquarium for around 24 h

Well Last night I had a look at the coral and it had contracted quite a bit so I thought it would be a good moment to move him to the left of the aquarium as I believe he will have more space to grow, also, the current is not as strong as on that side of the aquarium.
This morning I had a look and it looked happy enough, considering the lights were off and I had just placed it there 8 hours ago... but it looks like the coral had already started to expand. Can't wait to get back home and have a look at it again
In regards the food well, I forgot to buy liquid food, I think I am going to pop over to seahorse tomorrow during my lunch and get some.
How long can a coral go without food? I will be going on holidays at the end of the month (1 week) so I am a bit concerned it might die if I dont feed him

Is it just me or doesnt this coral look more like the elegance coral?
I have been doing some research and the more i look at pictures of the torch coral the less it looks like the one I have

The reason I said it was a torch coral was because I was told it was over the phone. You see I went to seahorse and out of impulso bought the coral, but I was so excited that I forgot to ask the name (they told me but by the time I got home I forgot, I am horrible with names).
Anyway what do you recon?
The coral has a green neon glow all over the base of the coral

I bought H20cean Pro+ LPS and some frozen plankton, I will alternate, 1 week one next week the other. I was talk that when I was feeding the coral with the H20cean not to feed the fish that day.
I gave him some of the frozen plankton, he seemed to like it, the fish liked it too which is good (and the crabs, and the shrimp...)
This coral is a bit aggressive, I dont know if its normal but yesterday one of the Nassarius snails wondered too close to it and some of the polyps reached out and grab him??? the poor snails was desperate to break away but couldn't... I had to give him a hand... scary
The BBS are ready too, I will probably feed him some on sunday, but I will need to keep them alive until then which is hard enough as they tend to day in a day of two if not fed properly...
