Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Now, I'm very much hoping these are confined to me - because of my antiquated laptop, so I'm asking everyone to please comment on whether they are, indeed, confined to me - or are others experiencing difficulties too?
I have reported it, but so far the problems remain here so I'm suspecting a new PC is the order of the day.
So if no-one else is 'suffering', so be it and at least I know you aren't all struggling too.
But co-operation in this one instance (observations either way) is requested.

My problems are still as previously reported. If I have "remember me" checked, the next time I log in the system tells me I'm logged in and allows me to post etc. However I'm shown as "away" on the forum and my name is missing from the list of "logged-in" users. I can rectify it by unchecking the "remember me" box, but I often forget and it is the default setting. It hasn't caused me problems as such, which is why I haven't pursued it.
That's the only forum glitch I have found, otherwise everything works OK for me. But I only use a PC.

But have just noticed I am offline as I type this, but that's not a big deal to me.
Overall I couldn't say which one was the best, we all knew the old version, but once we know where to go this will be easy to use.
Can we put signatures on yet, as the old version would let us new ones do that!?
What problems are you having?

I have ITFS on my laptop under favourates and when I click on that a good few times I get a page up saying.......The website cannot display the page......now straight away when this happens I type ITFS in the google search and click on it there and get immediate access to the ITFS webste.Sometimes on my phone I cant get access just a white screen...
p.s also found at times when I log out of the site it could be a couple of hours later and its showing me as still logged in ...

Having the issues of the forums not showing all the time either, and the drop down menus dont seam to work on my phone but working fine on the PC as long as you go into the forums the old fashion way by using the menus, not using my older bookmarks.

Sometimes I can refresh the page and all's well - but more often than not I'm still faced with the 'black-spotted' blank page.
As with Nomad, I can sometimes get back to the Forum by typing ITFS Forum into the search engine, but more often I can't.
And I, too, find I'm designated offline, even though I am in fact online - but this really is only a minor inconvenience for me.
We did go offline for much of this afternoon, but Darragh has waved his magic wand and we're back (usual thank to him) but please feel free to add to this if you'd like to.

But whatever - it's great that much of the Forum is better available, and long may it stay that way.
