Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

hello all
firstly I would like to apologise for my recent absence and inactivity for the last while due to other commitments etc. Things have been hectic for a while.
Anyway the I.T.F.S held its A.G.M. last night. On the night we discussed the events of the last year like the show and the clubs finances etc. there was also time spent reminiscing about our dear departed friend Phil Kearney,it really was an enjoyable evening.
Also the committee was re-elected and remains the same for the coming year, and we also drew up some meeting plans and activities for the year .some dates have to be confirmed but so far we have
MARCH MEETING ;IAN MILLICHIP will be giving a presentation.and then on the following months we will be having Darren Dalton and Derek Doyle giving presentations. These meetings are great nights as anybody who has attended before will attest. We will also be having 2 table shows through the year [when the weather picks up]which will have good spot prizes and a raffle, then we will have a charity auction which will be held on a Saturday or Sunday [these are great fun and all for a good cause].There is also plenty of other stuff in the pipeline that were looking into and we'll let you know when its done.
SO AS ALWAYS MEETINGS ARE HELD 2ND TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH AND ALL ARE VERY WELCOME.
regards
john

Just to bump this.

It is a week to go until the ITFS March meeting (Tuesday 12th of March).

I have not yet let the ITFS secretary know the title of the talk I'll be giving, but watch these spaces.

As a copy of John G's post above, Darren and Derek are also giving talks on future nights.

Sometimes it is a meeting, sometimes an exhibition, sometimes a presentation talk, and sometimes a bench show of fish.

A good mix, and a good bunch of people as well.

Since the meeting never gets going until 8.30 - 9pm I should think that bringing children would be inadvisable.

There is no charge for coming to a meeting, but it would be in your interest to join the Club as membership automatically gives you a 10% discount at any of the shops on our Sponsors List.

It's also nice to 'belong' and to be able to attend the forthcoming proposed events which are designated 'for Club Members exclusively.

Why not try to come along on the 12th March and listen to Ian's talk, if you enjoy the meeting and would like to join then someone there will be more than happy to collect your subscription.

How would you be a misfit? - They welcomed me, so that means anyone is welcome.
Although it is in a room upstairs in the Pub, not everyone takes a drink so you wouldn't be out of place, trust me.
I'm not certain what the subscriptions are this year but someone will tell you, I'm sure. If you don't have it this month you can join up when you can afford to.
Come along and see what you think, you'll be made welcome, I promise.

As JohnH says, looking forward to meeting you.

As it happens, I won't be drinking either (except coffee). ;)
