Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

NO VAT INCREASE - Well not at Seahorse Aquariums as we are maintaining the same prices as last year and not passing on the extra VAT costs.
We are looking forward to a great year with lots of new items to bring to you all.
We also are looking for a new years resolution for Seahorse Aquariums. We are offering a €50 voucher for the best suggestion for the New years resolution. Please post what you suggest and the best will win. To be decided by the Seahorse panel. 1 Winner over multiple platforms where we will be asking the same question.

Send across your idea's.

OK the Wnner has been selected.

There were so many good points and we wish to thank everyone who entered and sent over suggestions.

Winner via our facebook page - Daniel Coleman "To be more shellfish and to have a whale of a time!!"

Runner up who will also get a €50 voucher - Ed Manalo May I suggest that you would post videos in Facebook or youtube as a new years Resolution to share your best knowledge on the care of fresh or saltwater tank. Many people including myself are still newbies and would be very interested in that. To begin with, maybe introduce the topic on "How to start a Freshwater and Marine Tank." and so on and so forth.

Firstly here are a few points that we want to take away from this exercise.

1) will will look to get some Chubba chomps in our next lollipop delivery - these will be behind the counter so will be for VIP customers to request... (wait till we get them in first)

2) Coffee - we are toying with this idea to see if we can have a pot running for all customers.

3) Store in Cork - This I'm afraid will not happen - We are a one of a kind shop and it would not replicate in a second location in Ireland - Well not for a good while

4) We will look for this so called mermaid and see if we can get her in store. - any sightings - please let us know.

Daniel and Ed - We look forward to seeing you in store to collect your €50 voucher to spend in store.

Also - for all of you not yet following us please see the following links - www.facebook.com/seahorseaquariums twitter.com/seahorseaquadub

Also for anyone who missed Kealan on the TV the other day - check him out on RTE Player - www.rte.ie/player/#v=1132800 Kealan is n at 3 minutes in to the program.

Thanks again for all the support and get ready for a amazing year of fish keeping.

The seahorse Aquariums Team.
