Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

My Tank was created by Georgia (Georgia)
Well I've now had my fish for 11 months :) I have switched tanks about a month ago to get a larger one which is 11 gal. I have 2 goldfish and 2 pleco's. Anyway lately I got some new gravel and quite a few bits of pond weed. I didn't realise the pond weed would grow!! OMG I am over the moon it has been growing strong now and the fish absolutely love brushing against the plants and I've noticed my large goldfish likes a certain bit of the tank which has weed growing around it so only room for him (well i believe it is a male).

I want to get the really big ones, like the size of a TV lol but that is €880 + all the mods. I just do not have the money for it. I was lucky to get my one for €40. My fav pet shop gets all it's items really cheaply and excellent quality.

I really like my tank as it is at the moment. I think my eco system is very well balanced now. I am so happy that it is all working out. One thing I do have to get is some PH testers. Anyone know of a good place to get them online? I just want to make sure it is all okay.

Oh btw is my temperature for my goldfish and pleco's okay? 16° C = 60° F
I just bought a thermometer today as I do not want it to get to cold in the winter.

Haha my mam says I spoil my fish but I really do love them. I knew nothing a year ago when my friend bought em for a photo shoot and then said was gonna throw em away. Now I am a lil wiser but still need to learn. That said they are all alive and swimming so I am happy lol plus they are healthy.

I am finding since I put the plants in my pleco's are swimming around more and like curling around the weeds.
