Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Feeding Clowns. was created by Anthony (Anthony)
Whats the best food for Common Clowns.
Mine don`t seem that interested in the marine pellets or the
new life spectrum. The just pick at it and are looking a bit thin.

if they are really tiny then cyclops-eze. if they are bigger they should eat most foods. i feed mine 3 times a day...ocean nutrition formula 1 pellets. ocean nutrition formula 2 pellets. and either mysis or bs soaked in vitimins. mine didnt seem interested in flake really, so i stopped trying it.

do you have garlic? you could try soaking your nls in tank water with a drop or two of garlic extreme.

give me a ring if you want some of the food mentioned above.

Just throwing flake food in is really bad for them as the swalow it then start floating and go mad trying to swim dowm for 6 hours, flake is fine but let go of it with your fingers 1 cm under surface of the water, they also like 26-27C Temp and small clowns do need feeding three time a day.

That would be a ecumenical matter!!!

I had two small ones. The Damsel killed one of them and the other I found dead today. He was emaciated.
I went out to Brittas and bought two more.
These are much bigger/wild and in much better nick than the original young ones I bought.

These have no interest either. They ate a bit or Prawn tonight
but it is aleady cooked and I don`t want to give them this again. Might get you to drop out some night Fran.
I am on nights till Wednesday morning and so can`t make the ITFS meeting again tis month. I could not get a swap.

they prob just need a day or so to settle in. as far as i know damsels should be added last out of all your fish if you are going to keep them, could be wrong, i think platty would know. hows your water?

try varying their diet with different frozen foods like mysis, enriched brine shrimp, plankton etc.fishantic have garlic extreme in stock and andy in ashbourne has garlic enriched brine shrimp.the garlic stimulates the fish to feed and also helps to repel parasites.i've used the juice from crushed garlic cloves when i've run out.stay away from damsels, the majority are territorial and boisterous. kieron
