Heater question

what is the rule with heaters is it 1w per ltr just wondering is two 200w heaters good enough to run a 350L tank at 26c to 28c deg c

Depends on the Brand of heater, 1 x Eheim 200w will do up to 400L
But 2 x 200w will heat your 350L no worries there.

Depends on ambient temperature, insulation and the dimensions of the tank (and the volume comes in after them 3 things).

I have a Interpet 200w heater and a Juwel internal filter system 200W heater,
the juwel heater out of the corner box so i just used it.
The temp seems to be holding at 25 Deg c since this morning.
both are set for 28 deg c and few times i looked today they were both working
but the heater light was off. should i take a room tempature for morning i know the night the side wall gets hot because of the fire in the sitting room so the temp should be a little higher.

2x200w will do the trick no worries. That's exactly what I have in my 380l....

thats good to here i think its the first time i had to heat water from 12 deg c up to 28c
not looking forward to the next esb bill what fish are u keeping in the 380L

I remember trying to figure this one out myself not to long back for 2 x 300 watt heaters and the following was what was what someone came up with. The heaters will switch on and off as you can expect.
But assuming its on for half the day, ie 12 hours x 31 days in the month = 372 hours a month.
Your usage is 200w for 12hrs x 31 days (average) = 372 hours per month. 0.20kW x 372hrs = 74.4kWh. So 74.4kWh x 17cent = €12.65 a month per 200w heater. Therefore 25.30 per month for the two heaters.

So for 2x200W heaters, it should cost you about €50.60 ever 2 months ie the billing period. I could be totally wrong but thats my estimate! Its gotta be worth it though right!
Ive changed my electrictiy provider recently, Ive also done the same with my gas provider.
The best option is to go to different providers for gas and electricity, not the same.
Bonkers.ie is brill for trying to figure out the best rates.

Now the filter..thats a different matter again but at least its not spitting out the same type of bill that the lights and the heater would who are using more electricity.

thanks for the info i think i better start selling some fish and tanks or maybe i could start drinking cheaper beer and ask the girlfriend to cut back on the cigarette

By choosing brands that are more cost effective you can save money.
1 x 200w Eheim/MP heater will heat a 350 L aquarium.
Using the figures kindly worked out by Fishowner, (that's for that)
That's about €150 saving in a year. every year!
Granted there is the cost of the Heater to be taken from that, but that's about €30
Same with Filters etc, Check the wattage used. Spending that €50 extra could bring you a €60 saving every year.

It's from 28 years of listening to "how much will that new tank cost" , sorry I meant marriage
But as you know "Wifey" economic reasoning is different in Shoe Shops, fitted Kitchen showrooms, boutiques etc.
