Does you Fluval 405 external sound like a dishwash
×
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Check that the ceramic media is secured. I put foam on top of it to hold it in place, otherwise it can move around making a racket.
Other than that, it could be just air that will sort itself out in a day or two.
Regards,
Ken.

nope my is fairly silent, if it is air as ken says get pumping on the auto priming pump this can help, trapped air can lead to clapped up filter
Check out the angling section, it is fantastic

Can you post a few pics of the profile? I think you are the first person I've come across that has one! Cracking looking tank!

If air is trapped in the filter try tilting the canister from side to side carefully whilst its running, that should force any trapped air through the return pipe. You may need to do this for a few mins to release the lot. If you still hear an unusual amaount of noise, like Ken suggested, secure all media, but also take a look at the impeller and be sure its sitting properly and not coming into contact with anything. On a personal note, I had one of these canisters (pretty new) fail on me, as did my brother but he managed to sort his out. I wont pick one up now unless its a freebie or not far off...

Tks for your help. Here are some pictures off the tank. Its the Fluval Profile 1200 Black. Its 4ft. 323 litres. Comes with 405 external filter and 4 lights ( 2 lights per unit like the juwel tanks ) The 2 different units have there own on/off switch. Its plumbed through the bottom of the tank but I had to buy new hose as I have filter on the other side to the pipes due to were it went in my kitchen

Not much in it as you can see. Just Juwel Rock 3d background and sand. Have some java moss and jave ferns attached to small piece of bog wood. Im on the lookout for a large centre piece of bogwood. Have added some old filter media from my other tank and have some zebra danios to get it going. Going South Americans like my main tank.
Tks Jay

Hi, love your tank DROOL DROOL!!
I resolve bubbles in the Filter problem by pouring water down the extraction tube until it reaches the top of the tube, then return it to the water, while doing this, bubbles will come out of the return until it's just water coming out, always works for me. ( Hope it makes sense )
