Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Just checked my tank before heading out to work ,yes some of us have to work on St Patrick day, and noticed my co2 bubble counter was running very slow about 1 bubble every 2 seconds instead of the normal 2 bubbles per second ,opened up the needle valve on the reg and it made no difference . The co2 indicator in the tank is bearly green . The gauges on the reg look about normal. As many of you know from my previous posts I am new to co2 and have only enstailed it since 28th Dec, it uses a 2kg fire extingusher ,reg has a solinoid on it so it only runs 7 hours per day . Do you think the cylinder is empty, I thought I would get 6mths from a fill. Your thoughts please . Robert

Hi Alan , that's what I would have thought , but confess I know nothing about co2 so was hoping the knowledgeable people on the forum could help , how long should a cylinder last?

When you say it's bearly in the green, do you mean it's nearly in the red? If so I would imagine it's empty.
If you weigh the bottle how much does it weigh? A 2 kg extinguisher should weigh 2 kg plus the bottle weight. (is that the way it works or is it 2kg in total!)
That might give you an idea as well.

Just googled it and a 2kg should weigh 5.1 kg when full and 3.1 when empty.
So weigh it and see.

Hi Jon late , I would think that a 2kg cylinder means as you say that the weight of the liquid co2 inside is 2kg ,so the total is this plus the weight of the cylinder . The co2 indicator in the tank is bordering between blue and green meaning the level of co2 in the tank is to little. I did expect the cylinder to last longer than 10 weeks
