Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Starlight Ancistrus 3 days after the egg-sac has gone. These are identical to Ancistrus sp.(3) at this age. The starlight's quickly get their white speckles and look like the parents within the month.

Here we have 2 Hisonotus notatus (otocinclus notatus)hanging on to a thermostat. The eggsac has just gone on these.
The only fist food that worked for me was fresh algae. So if you find eggs off these get some tank water in a basin or tub, put some large stones in for algae to grow on and place outside in the sun (if we have any). You should have enough algae by the time they hatch.

Amblydoras hancockii fry. These are roughly 2 weeks old. Amazing how they resemble the parents at this young age.

Sturisoma ? I got these as Sturisoma Arkanson. It was bad timing for me to collect the eggs and ended up with one out of twelve. Here he/she is at 2 weeks. Identical to the parents as soon as it hatched.

Platty all i can say is wow wow wow, what the heck are you doing to have this success, they all look great and healthy... this is why i want a breeders registrar, not only to have people who may be looking to shift excess fry, but more importantly to pass on knowledge like you obviously have....
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do an article on breeding these for us

Cheers people.
@ Seamus. I had intended to do an article on the Amblydoras hancockii because all the info on the net is misleading. Even down to how to sex them.
got 2 pairs in condition and when i noticed the females carrying i moved them to a better viewing tank. Big mistake since all breeding activity stopped once they were moved. I will have to wait and start again once they settle in.
I might add the otocinclus notatus to the wiki on the site since there is no info on the net regarding raising the young.
The Sturisoma are still young and only bred once. I will have to wait untill they go again before i can do an article on them.
