Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

John,
I had suffered a similar fate but it would appear that the Forum has had a bit of maintenance and if, like me, you had the 'Recent Topics' page saved in your 'My Favourites' it now doesn't link up with the Forum but if you open the Forum, get to the 'Recent Topics' again on the revised Forum you can then 'Save' it in your Bookmarks or Favourites and delete the previous entry and replace it with the new one - well, that's what I did anyway and it works for me.

I presume this is essentially the same problem so I will post it here.

Has anyone else noticed that search now does not come up with any results from the forums and only articles? Also using site:irishfishkeepers.com on google does no good as all the results lead to a 404 page.

I have seen this error myself

When you get this error please just click on home page and that will bring you to the site but then the next time the error should not come up

This is what i have done and has worked

Nope Sean, the Error is still there and when you Google Irish Fish Keepers, that other Site comes up on the top of the List.

Yep, Click on Go To Home Page and that works but try to get there via a search is a nightmare, I'm more concerned by the absence of the direct link to the Site for non-members.

The Error comes up again.

It was on the Arm of an Armchair, I got up to let the Cat out and it fell, a Wood storing contraption had four metal leg things that protrude from it, one pierced the Apple Logo and destroyed the screen, 450 Dollars CAN to fix but by all accounts, cheaper than the cost to replace the Lid/screen unit at home.

404 error does seem to be fixed, but now links from google say "You do not have permissions to access this page." and the search function on the site still does not work for me.

Of course you will John, you're a 'doer' and won't give up that easily - I'm sure.
