Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

What music are you listening to ?

Right now I'm listening to 'The thing that should not be' by Metallica - this is a random shuffle so pure chance.

Looking at the Top 25 most played songs in iTunes:

Some of the less embarrasing songs are:

Creeping Death - Metallica (65 times)
The man comes around - Johnny Cash (64 times)
Riders on the storm - The Doors (61 times)
Love Street - The Doors (60 times)
It’s a hard life - Queen (58 times)
Sogno - Andrea Bocelli (56 times)

Some of the more embarrasing ones:
Karma Chameleon - Culture Club (72 times)
The crying game - Culture Club (59 times)
Rockin' Robin - The Jackson 5 (58 times)
Thriller - Michael Jackson (78 times)
Private Dancer - Tina Turner (112 times)

Seriously - I've listened to the 'Crying game' 59 times? How the hell did that happen? I must have some issues...

Interestingly, I wouldn't class all of these as my favourite songs. Some of the numbers are artificially high through songs that are on an album next after a favourite song. I must have a habit of listening to songs in two's.

So come on then - what are you listening to & if you're using iTunes what's in the top 25.
Can't be any worse than Culture Club & The Jackson 5….

And 'Furniture' doesn't even warrant a listen?
Consider yourself reprimanded!!!

I just watched/listened to a most interesting version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' on Youtube:

Excellent!

Go Muppets Go!

Considering I have been saving myself for the Horslips and have not listened to them at all for the last month those stats are scary!

Furniture, brilliant, but I don't have the version I like so will have to wait for the rest of the re-releases.

Last nights version was brilliant and the same again tonight :-)

I would love to see Aslan live, but not sure I would want to go home wearing my camera where it was not supposed to fit :-)

They are playing Drogheda soon, might try there. Only tend to lose wing mirrors there :(

Always loved Horslips but with teh comeback gigs in the Odyssey on Thursday and O2 on Saturday comiong, I kind of went into over kill.

They had two open rehersals in McHughs of Drogheda last night and the night before - just brilliant. Can't wait for the two big ones now, don't know what I will do after that
