Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Oh wait, 'causing quite a stir' eh? Yeah, I remember that ploy. Didn't Elvis use that one, I'm sure Gene Pitney caused a big stir with Marc Almond, Dylan certainly did, not to mention Lennon and McCartney, even Madonna caused a stir. Mr Spoon, on Button Moon - He caused quite the stir. Alex Chilton had a Big Stir. I'm savvy. ::MAKES USE OF WINKING EMOTICON::

What's wrong with shooting your video in a community hall, with loads of kids and your band's name painted on a bed sheet???

100 points to whoever can name that one!

I'll give you a clue,
They are from Ireland and they broke up in 1983 (I think) to reform in 1999 with a new front man. Have released 2 studio albums since. Big in Holland.

I wouldn't really call it a music video more of a statement she doesn't even make an apperance in it.Must say was surprised with the wall mural in the video. Seems to be getting allot of hits though I suppose any publicity is good publicity.

Video, is well just pure cr@p not art or anything else, just pure rubbish.

The music sounds like they put limp biscuit qos and ratm and also a few cats and chucked it down a flight of steps in a biscuit tin.

I'd say MIA is causing quite a stir.. in my bowel, or maybe thats the expresso I just had.

The less people that watch that noise the better.

go on yis bleeding pensioners! ;)

MIA is cool, original and has something to say
which is more than i can say for most of the tosh out there

the video is simply using gingers as a statement
of minorities getting p*ssed on, it seems to shock
regular folk but its no different to an ethnic minority
being opressed, using the minority of the white race
is merely a clever little jab,

although i will admit its far from her best, songwise

The song aint the best but the video is class!!!

Fourmations got it spot on saying its using gingers as a minority getting f**cked with! No offense to ginger people out there but this video made me laugh!!

Was i the only one who thought a film with a similar story line to this video would be enjoyable to watch??

Youtube have banned it in the states only STRANGE maybe because there made out as the aggressor. The red heads are used as methaphors to depict small ethnic minorities alright although she has said its really based on the Sri Lankan people. My opinion great way to get a statement across gets people talking and opening there eyes that this still does go on to this day.Although it will be all forgotten about in a few weeks.
