Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

...for your adjudication...

Here are the entries you are being asked to vote on.

As before, please cast your (three) vote(s) for those in preference - in other words please vote - entry number - order of preference (with #1 being your favourite, #2 being your second favourite and - you'll never guess...#3 your third favourite). In other words #1 gets three points, #2, 2 points and =3 one point.

Look them through, make your choices then send them to

before midnight on Thursday.
Please add your Forum user name to help the process run smoothly. I think that's about it - oh no, a reminder that you may not vote for your own entry.

Here we go then...

Here, then, are the results for the February Round:
Winner #4
Second #7
Third #5
Fourth #16
Joint Fifth #7, 11, 14, 15
8th #12
9th #13
Joint 10th #2, #3, #5, #6, #8, #9, #10, #17, & #18
It seems an awful pity to me for those of you who took the time and effort to submit entries that so few actually voted.
Still, I guess that's the way of things now.

Anyway, congratulations to Tomas (Helix 8008) for winning - I'll leave it to you and James to sort out the delivery/collection of the Prize Book.

Thanks again to the members who submitted entries and to those who subsequently took the time to vote.

I'm more than happy to continue running these competition for the benefit of those who take the time and effort to submit entries though - so please start to get snapping for the March Round which will get under way in the next day or so.

How many people voted this time john

Just seven.
Maybe there should have been more reminders posted fot potential voters - but there were well over fifty views - so even if each person who viewed had voted we would have had a more representative (of the membership) poll.
Still, c'est la vie.
