Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Congratulations go to Irishzx-r for first place, Galwaylad - narrowly beaten into second spot with Q-comets coming third.
I'll leave it up to yourselves to decide who takes which of the donated prizes - jonlate's Tetratec filter, Helix's plants or the water containers from Homer - carried over from last month, which Jeff won - but offered as a prize for April.
Obviously the order of choice relates to where the winner ended up - so 1st gets first choice, 2nd gets second pick with 3rd going to (surprisingly enough) the person whose picture came third.
As jonlate's on holiday this week I'll be collecting the Tetratec next week from Roscommon and bringing it over to a mutually-convenient location afterwards for the winner to collect. The other two prizes are located in Dublin area so can be collected there.

It wasn't an accident, but never mind...anyway - as James (irish-zx10r) is going for the filter then the other donations can be discussed between the second and third-placed entrants.

Yes I am away, but as I have been dragged around shops etc, I thought it would be OK to see what's happening in the fish world.
Well done James for winning.
Looking at the same top 3, what is the fish that came 2nd? And are the love hearts on the 3rd place goldfish natural? Of course they are, why did I doubt that anyone would buy those tattooed fish!
I had forgotten about the feeder, but it would be great if john could bring it down next week, I feel that's quite a good swap. For the last few days the fish have been on a starvation diet as I been away!! I did feed them before I left, and put in a few of those holiday block feed things in for them. I think a few days without food will do them good.
Once again well done everyone, don't forget it all starts again, so get this months photos in.

So glad the humble goldfish got some votes.
Nearly warm enough for some koi to be making an appearance in the next round maybe
