Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Not to be a party pooper but the fish you have are going to end up outgrowing your tank quite fast.
Also your tiger barbs may well become food for your jack dempsey or green terror both predetory fish .
Jack dempsey are very agressive fish and i ould reccommend at the very least 500 litres and even that is very small some say you need 2000litres plus for them. What type of catfish do you have because some of them can also get huge and they eat everything i had one in my tank and it ate 3 green terrors and a small arwona

what filter are you running in your tank out of interest ?
with fish like jack dempsey and green terror you will need a good filter in my opion , but maybe some will disagree.
my jack dempsey is small i had 2 large ones but they died for some strange reason i was devasted ;-( mine were in a 720 litre and i was told that it was too small for them.also i am running a ehiem 2080 and a fluval fx5 and do 50 % water change each week.

thanx for your info, was thinking about the eihem filter alright, they seem the best from what i heard,i feed the jack live worm and hickari cichlid gold, same for green terror, the pug is like like my son love him to bitsIt will soon turn when your jack dempsey grows up he will rule the whole tank i could put any amount of money on it.personally the internal filters that come with the jewels i dont rate them especially for the selection of fish you have. The green terrors are only smal just wait 6 months and they ill be 4 inches or more easy as will you dempsey what are you feeding them ? external filter i would go for a big one if you are going to upgrade the tank for a larger one some day. fluval have a great range of filter as do enheim
bit more expensive but worth the money ,i wish i was living in ireland still allot cheaper over there for fish equipment
love the pug by the way
i have a female rottie myself
