Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Use the Forum as both a source of reference and just as somewhere to have a "Fishy Chat". I have been keeping Fish for a good deal longer - and still learn something new every day!!! You are never to old to learn - anyone who thinks they are is either telling porkys or looking everything up on Google!!!
Tell us more about the fish you're keeping.
John

If no one minds, let me tell you a little about my
tank and fish. my tank is 100 litres
i have
1 common pleco, his name is jaws,he is 6mnths old
1 redtail shark he is called sharkie, abt 5mnths old
4 blue peru tetra,
1 bala shark, i did have 2 but sadly 1 died

2 zebra danios,
2 mountain minnows.
my second tank is 60 litres
and i have
5 neon tetra
3 guppies
and one siamese fighting fish
and yesterday i added a gold brisstlenose pleco
ohhh yeah and my little fella, a guppie fry.
i did have 7 but sadly they were eaten but the little guy
is thriving. he is 4 weeks old now.
I adore my fish, so does my little boy who is 4, he was diagnosed
with autism, and i find spending time with the fish calms him down.
he helps me clean the tank and feed them.
i know before anyone says anything, i need a bigger tank for my bala and pleco, but at moment i cant. but im hoping to get a bigger one during the year. unfortunatly my pleco is getting to big for the 100 ltr and i
dont want to part with him.

thanks again for your replies

As you say your tank is on the small size and far too small for the ultimate size the fish you mention will grow to but this only becomes a problem when they begin to grow, they're really fine in smaller tanks until that time...by when you will have a larger tank anyway.
John
I find your story of your son getting pleasure from watching the fish very touching as it reminds me of a similar scenario many years ago.
