Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Strange these stores opening in a recession - perhaps they know something the rest of us don't?

that Tank is My Pride & Joy, so it is...
collected some cool pieces of Moor Wood over the Years, I'm always on the look out for nice pieces
great Wood to work with, makes great framework for the Plants
all the Plants in that Tank are just nice and easy low maintenance Plants
the Main Plant in the Centre is Bolbitis heudelotii, it's a very easy to keep fast growing Fern
cracking Plant
there are a few lovely plants in the same family...
Bolbitis heteroclita
trilobal fern with an elongated centre leaf, very nice
bolbitis heteroclita difformis
a cool nano Plant, makes a neat little foreground Plant
the long thin stringy looking Plant on the right is Crinum calamistratum
a firm favourite of Mine, this Plant pretty much started My interest in Aquatic Plants
it's a fast growing, cool looking easy to keep Plant that I think always looks the part in any Aquarium
all the other Plants in the Tank are in the Anubias Family
just about the easiest hardiest Plants going...
Anubias barteri, Anubias barteri nana & Anubias bonsai are used in that pic
there are some very nice Anubias Plants available, Anubias hastifolia, Anubias congensis, Anubias coffeefolia...
I've recently added some of the above mentioned Plants, some Cryptocorynes, Microsorum pteropus windelov & various Mosses to the Tank
I must take some more recent Pix of the Tank...
all these Plants and a whole lot more are available in MaxiZoo, Finglas
I'm a bit low on Mother Plants at the moment, there is more Plants dew in on thursday
drop in and have a Yap...

having a Passion for the Hobby is what it's all about !!!
You're on the Ball with that Tank, it is very easy to keep mainly because of the easy nature of the Plants used in it...
actually there is a Red Plant that I am becoming very interested in that seems to be very hardy by comparison to most Red Plants...
Nesaea spec.
cool Plant, Might end up putting a load of this in the 240 with some Cryptocoryne Parva or Lutea...
