Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Heres a few of the fish to see.I'm short on time at the moment and dont have time to do the photobucket thing,so will hopefully do that 2mw when time permits. The shots were taken in low light(3am!) with recently benched fish, only shot the larger ones.
I'm sure others will get much better ones in the light of day.

I haven't posted for a while but I like to read everybody's posts. I couldn't stay for long today but I really enjoyed what I saw. I think my nine year old son has now caught the bug. Got his first tank today.

great pictures. didnt have time to take any myself so I am really glad that these are here. My frogs are having a nice little cuddle there.

@ freshcod: It was very busy so unfortunately you dont get to stand beside your fish for long but it was a friendly atmosphere and there was lots of chatter. With each show there are more and more people on the show team so maybe it will come to a stage where you will get to be in the hall chatting for a longer time.

@ dalay: congrats on your sons first tank. its such an adictive hobby it will probably be the first of many. I thought the clown loach were amazing. they were monsters. I will have to start feeding mine their vitals to get them to grow

why did u photograph me standing beside lanky lampeye, i look like a midget:laugh: . next time i'll make sure to stand beside a normal height man (bernard) or even a woman. i am 5 ft 9 and a half when i dont slump, so fran must be about 7 foot or else i'm standing in a hole.

Some really good pics up already that capture the day well.

Fair play to everyone organising it so it ran smoothly...
Especially those who got no sleep looking after the entrants! :side: ..Thanks a mill!

Was cool to see some great fish + such a good crowd.

Lookin forward to the next 1! ;)

It is not that easy as one peropsn can have fish in several different classes, so it would be physically impossible to be with all there fish. But if you ask around the owners can usually be found for information, I know I was called to different fish a few times and it was great to meet people interested in what you were showing.

An idea I had after the last show, was to do up a basic profile of each species, just the basics,on an a4 and laminate it,taping it to stand below tank.
It would make it more interesting, especially for those that are new to the hobby.I see species at shows that I find very interesting, but wouldn't have the foggiest of what they are, availability, ease of keeping, etc, etc.

always on the lookout for interesting corys.pm me if you know off any!
