Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi All...

Basically I'm planning a 6x2x2 in-wall tank, my first question is, Does anyone build \"Quality Custom Tanks\" in ireland? I know i can import one from Clearseal but I think i'll be better to get a tank locally...

Cheers
Pablo

Hi Everyone...

Well... actually I think is going to be a 7x2x2 (routhly 800 litres) in wall, viewable from both sides.. :)

Spoke to Gerry about it recently and he gave me lots of very useful info, I'll definately contact him when everything is ready to go (still going to take a good while)..

Nessa, that a stunning tank.. nicely integrated to the wall ;)

thanks for the nice comments. It is viewable from both sides. There is an office behind it with a tiled floor and a bathroom off that so its great for water changes as I regularly flood the place..... All maintenance can be done from the back and if you want a bit of privacy I just drape some black cloth over it. There is a computer in the office so when the kids are playing on it they have a certain amount of privacy but they can also be monitored if need be. Maybe a bit paranoid but thats life with computers I suppose.

Its a Rio 240 and I got a metal frame made up and got off cuts from a kitchen shop to make up the press that closes in all the stuff that you accumulate and an external filter. I will take some pics of the back of it aswell when I clean up the office....

Would love to have a bigger wall to put a 7foot tank into Pablo. I cant wait to see what it looks like.

thanks mickey. I had a bit of help as you can imagine but it is really easy to maintain as you dont get any water in the sitting room and you can hide all the stuff at the back. The best part is though NO noise except soothing water noises. All I need now is a gang of your livebearers in there to keep us all entertained....
