Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

they just have the tanks on the wholesalers list at the moment..you could use some live plants to great effect though.the L.E.D. lights are pretty good for growing, I even have cuba flourishing with easy carbo.much nicer than fake stuff and your betta would appriciate!

I'd say you might have had problems light and or poor quality plants.I've never been able to grow cuba in any really good way before but my little nano on my desk at work is full of it carpeting nicely!I'd give them a go again in the chi..looks like they could do well under the led, when you are over i can suggest a few species that you might like to try.

dont make me come over there.

Andrew,

I agree totally, no nano available matches the Edge, class design, lovely lines, easy as Pie to maintain, wonderfully suitable Filter, just don't be an A$$ thinking you can keep Koi in it and you'll do fine.

Gorgeous little tank.

Like the bamboo on the top.

Hmmm, do I have room for one?

Yeah they are prone to infection very easily and in a tank that size its always a risk. Im just curious as alot reckon against the betta in a tank like this and the Edge.

Yeah hoping for some more nice shrimp to come onto the market, although down South here in Cork its more than difficult to get any type of shrimp. Im waiting on crystal reds of someone when I head to Dublin and I will most likely put a few of them into the edge. You could still keep a few endlers in the tank as well.

Ive been looking lately at some shrimp from the Sulawesi area, have a look at them, they are stunning shrimp but would be very expensive to get in.

No...we have 2 fish shops down here realistically in Cork...and while one is improving re selection,we simply dont get the same selection of fish that Dublin get. Hence why I frequent Seahorse Aquariums on occassion. Luckily one of the shops down here has a top bloke working there who I know and he trys to get fish in for us but he is at the mercy of others also Id say.
The Sulawesi will be expensive though!

Yeah I was thinking, I have heard of lads from Cork coming up for a shopping spree
We don't know how lucky we are in Dublin having so many good shops

Imagine someone like yourself opening a shop in cork you would make a killing :)

Not so sure about that...alot more fishkeepers in Dublin!
Im putting a few guppy fry into the edge now tonight. I think the tank is ideal for fry and endlers and the likes of that.
