Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Cant really remove them due to the position, they are on a plant. Oh well at least Ive a couple now anyhow!! Poor golden ram will be feeling neglected now!
Still some eggs left but not sure how many.

Anyhow Im going to put them into a hatchery box tonight with a pair of old tights from herself wrapped around the hatchery box to stop the fry from getting out the inlets, but will allow the water through however.
Then on Sunday Im hoping to get the isolation tank up and running, Im going to cut some of the sponge from my existing external out, do a water change with the water coming from the main tank going straight into the isolation tank. I got an airpump today so will run an airstone onto the sponge and hopefully the fry will get to the free swimming stage then once Ive removed them from the hatchery.Need to get this damn elite heater to work propertly though.(Damn are they useless!).
Should have my whiteworms by Monday but will be getting some baby brine / artemia going in between then, starting tomorrow!

Hello fishowner
I have bred Bolivian Rams and raised them to sell to my lfs. I just didn't have the time to do anything with them. I just let nature run its course. I let the parents raise them and they ate left over food and what ever micro organisms were in the tank. I must have sold over forty tank bred Bolivian Rams. That was last year. I have two pairs and i noticed over four weeks ago one of the males and females I had in the tank had been hiding and low and behold they had fry. So around ten of them have survived and are doing well. I do nothing special and I'm by no means an expert. I know how to keep adult Bolivians happy but thats it. Breeding them has been pure luck.

Well an update on the Wrigglers since Friday! I checked again tonight and had my baby brine shrimp ready, I also managed to get my hands on some microworms.(Also big thanks to Astrid who is send some down to me ).Much appreciated.
So Ive fed the wrigglers some of the baby brine shrimp and they have reacted well to it. The wrigglers were fairly quiet with little or no movement but once I shone the light on them and put some of the BBS into the hatchery tank they went into live and moved around alot. In fact some have even began to get into swimming mode up and down to the surface all in the space of a few hours only tonight, guess the food hit the spot for them!! Im delighted with them so far, however Im going to wait for another few days before I move them to the QT tank as I feel they arent strong enough at present to survive the move yet. Will see how they are progressing over the course of the week. Id say I have about 20 of them at the moment all doing well from what i can see. They go really still, I though some of them were dead but then they wriggle along!! Happy days, tried getting pics but they are actually too small to be honest so when they get abit bigger I will put some pics up.
Also what do people do with the baby brine shrimp, Ive feed all my tanks tonight with it and still have loads left. Can you freeze some of it in ice cube containers,Im pretty sure you can? (Seeing as the first 24 / 36 hours after hatching are when they are most nutrious).

come to think of it 2 of my blue rams paired up and over the past 2 days i have noticed them cleaning a leaf on a plant in my tank i'll have to check it out and see if anythin has happened i already have a small 20 lt tank set up for kribensis fry cause they keep getting eaten so im prepared for any babies
If you're going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you're going to be locked up.

Although these propably made their way all around the bag in transit, so you might have been safe feeding them
