Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I have been on the lookout for fossorochromis sp for ages & have never seen them for sale.
Passing by a shop today & popped in for a look & lo & behold there are two big male Fossorochromis Rostratus.
I snapped them up. These fish are real stunners but get to nearly a foot long.
Anyone ever kept these before or had any experience with them ?
Pic from the web below - the ones I got are just like this.

Hey,
These are absolutely amazing fish!i love them! They keep on getting better and better with age.
One thing though...they get very big! seen them at least a foot long.
One of our mate had them in a 10x4x3,huge tank and they looked fantastic in it.
We only have a little female in our display:( ,i wish we add room for a male...
Great buy 2poc!Put up some pics if you get d chance please:) .
Dimitri.

Cheers guys.
Theyre in the main cichlid tank, settling in with a cover over the tank for the next day or two to give them a chance to get to know the tank before the dominance battles begin....
They're about 6 and 7 inches at the moment, maybe a bit bigger.
Jeff I have set up that 240 alright, stocking it very slowly though so it doesn't look much at the moment with just a dwarf lionfish, a triggerfish & a few corals.
Hopefully in another 6 weeks or so it'll be more along the lines of what I want.
I'll grab a few pics of the tanks over the weekend, havent taken any in ages. Fish room has been work in progress for so long it hasn't been fit to photograph...

cracking fish. for large fish they are not overly agressive if kept in a large tank. they feed like moori dolphins and will surprisingly dive under the sand when frightened. the biggest i have seen them grow to was about 9 inches but i believe they can grow even larger.
ps interesting posts as usual patrick. keep it up.

Thanks Derek! Hopefully the bigger Nimbochromis sp. in the tank won't give them too hard a time.
I have an unidentified bully in the tank lately that I havent seen in action but is shredding a few fins.
A sub adult fusco is the prime suspect.
P.s. They'll be in for a shock if they try diving under the sand in my tank as its only an inch or so deep
