Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I used to think they all looked like Mr Miyagie after being hit in the face a few times by a shovel of an excavator....... but they are starting to hold more and more appeal lately!!!!
Really nice looking setup there!!!
Have to say Im some what envious and if i could get off my arse and stop putting it off, Id love to plant one of my tanks

Not to take it away from some of the better fish stores who have some foreign some Irish and some wild fish. And also Some rare varietys. We do need to support of mum and papa stores.
but I think I will only buy Cory's from our breeders in future, unless I am looking for something special. there are many home breeders on here.
Maybe 1 more in years to come wink wink.
But as for any fish if you want fish give a big shout out here. Especially Cory's as I know there are fish always.

Corys are one of my favourites, ive had them since I started fishkeeping, Started with pandas and now sterbais from our own AngleCichlid great little fish, When their goin 90 running around looking for food and then they find something and just freeze- its so funny

Honestly mate, I was to late in planting my tank properly, I already have 30kg of gravel in the tank!
So I went to a very knowledgeable person Darren from SH,
and he suggested instead of starting fresh with substrate gravel etc- I just purchase 'clay balls' and push them into the gravel I have,
So I did that and as I've said got some cuttings and now there flying!
Cheap to do to, Like clay balls where 8-10€ and ferropol its not that bad,
Of course Co2 helps too

Now i think they are kinda fascinating!!!!
I had 7 of them, but 1 was lost for an unknown reason!!!! Swimming along fine and happy in the morning at 6am.... by 8am he/she was in the corner away from everything else and by 9am floating at the top of the tank!!!!
I guess it was just one of those things, cause the rest of the tank was absolutely fine!!!!
