Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi,

Bought a few bits for tank the other night. They seem to have settle in really well apart from the anemone which has settle in a cave under a rock. Its tenticles are out and one of my new clowns is all over it.
I know they like to move about until they find somewhere they like to settle, the problem with its current location is that theres not much light getting to it and not a hope that I'll be able to target feed it.
I dont really want to attempt to move it incase I damage its foot holding etc.

Anyone any ideas???

Cheers in advance

Simon

Simon,

Don't try to move it. Let it settle in first for a few weeks! How big is in relation to the clown. Large clown/Small anemone = battered anemone.

Let us know how it goes. A Picture might help. What species is the anemone?

Kind regards

Seany

What lighting are you using for the anemone?

I find the best way to place it where you want it - is to turn off circulation pumps so there is not much movement - do this for 30 min whilst the foot is grabbing on. Get some food - like Mysis or other shrimp and feed him in the position that you want him in. Turn on the pumps after it has eaten and then it should stay put thinking that if he stays there - it will be feed.

Has work for me twice / hope it helps.
If he is stuck under the rock - try turning the rock so he is up top. The larger the anemone - the more chance the clowns wont batter it to much. Also try baggin the clown and take him out of the tank for a few hours - then when you place him back in he is freaked out and will not jump straight into the Anemone - giving it a chance to get used to the new water conditions / lighting conditions.

Hi,

I'm using 4 t5 bulbs. Two white, 1 purple and 1 blue. the anemone is still under the rocks. but slowly but surely its starting to move towards the light. So I'm thinkin that its starting to settle in now.
Its a sebae anemone as far as I know, and I've noticed the female clown has been feeding it.
So hopefully it keeps following the light and settles somewhere that it can be seen easily.

cheers for the replies

Hi I was just wondering how your anemone is doing as I only purchased a sebae the other day and he is hiding under a rock at the moment. Also if you had any suggestions for me as I am a complete newbie
I have two T5's and two Aquaray 600 LEDs so hope that is enough.

Many thanks
