Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Hi All,

Just posted up some pics of my first attempt at a tank. Have the tank up and running 1.5 years. It's a very basic 60 litre and have been in awe at some of the tanks on here. I have been reading a lot on here about setups, plants, etc, etc so plan an upgrade hopefully next year to a bigger and better setup.

What are peoples opinions? Any suggestions in ways in which I could improve things? I am very limited with it being a 60 litre which is unfortunate :(

Does anyone know the plants I have in there as they seem to be doing pretty well and very little maintenance and have no substrate/fertilisers.

Cheers to all

PS: Hope the link above works ok!

Cheers :)

I was actually only admiring your tank earlier today. I read the story about how you set it up, etc. Very impressive altogether.

Guess best idea for the 60litre is to sell it!!!!

Thanx
like i said you could have a very nice 60L tank setup all depending on what fish you want to keep. The photo of the 60L tank is of one of the 5 tanks that i have, it has corys and appistogrammas in it, i even have a 15L planted nano tank with pigmy corys, galaxy rasboras and cherry shrimps

Hi Donal

The plant on the right front and back is Windelov fern and should not be planted you can use fishing line to tie this plant to your bog wood ;)

Cheers Donal :)

I had been wondering why it hadnt really taken and when I moved it noticed it had clung to a lot of the gravel.

Thanks for the tip. I'll connect it to the bogwood over the next few days. Cheers

What sort of light do you have on the tank?

Donal,

I'm not sure exactly what type light it is.

Tank is a hexagonal shaped basic 60 litre. (See link below). I am looking at upgrading to a Rio 125 if I can pick one up at the right price. I'm limited space wise so can't really go for a huge aquarium :(

Dont sell it:ohmy: it can be used as a quarantine tank, or a small species tank i'm using a 60l for my shelldwellers at the mo, have 3x 19l as newborn fry tanks which will have fry moving onto a 60l and eventually 120l..one thing you will soon realise is you can NEVER have enough tanks;)

Fishkeeping the Only way to get wet and wild
