Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Have started breeding, shrimp and now Potbellied Dalmation mollies. Just had the first spawn, not much to mollies, right water and watch em pop.

The male is all black and about 1/2 te size of the female, she is huge for a molly.

Will post a pic of the female in a bit, had a lovely wild swordtail female, green on top bottom and tail end black with a deep red stripe and a huge long flowing tail, died unfortunately before I got to get fry, still bugs me.

Always had a softspot for livebearers, recently got some gorgeous dwarf swordtails, looking forward to a batch from them anyday, also got some red tailed Limias, they look like the pattering of fins is a little way off yet though.

Other than that I have Limia melanogaster and one who's name completely escapes me at the moment, but they are tiny little guys and look like corydoras pygmeaus with whom they share a tank.

All except the swords came Purrrfect Pets, Longmile Rd, the melanogaster and the ones I still can't think of the name of are from a while ago, when it was Whackers but the Red Tailed Goodeids were there a week or two ago and they may still have some. I had never seen them here before.

At the moment i just have Heterandria formosa (i think that is the fish you were trying to think of Daragh), and a male Xiphophorus clemenciae. Sadly i lost the female.

Denis i have a list here from a breeder in the UK including about 30 not so common species.
If you are interested i will send you the list.
Just send me a PM after the show to remind me.

Hi Denis, I have a continuous population of pure endlers breeding, they are such a fantastic fish that my 4 year old is going to use them as her "show'n'tell".

I find though that my ratio is more favourable to females - maybe I need a more macho male :)

I have 3 female guppys and one male endler, but one female in particular is after dropping 3 batches of fry in the last couple of months, each one 3 weeks apart. I have about 40+ fry now if anybody is interested in them once they mature?:woohoo:

Here is another little livebearer I kept some time ago, can't rember where I got them and I don't have them anymore, but if you do find them, get about 4 females to each male. The males NEVER give it a rest, ten times worse than guppies or endlers.
