Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

indeed the shrimp mania is starting to hit.seahorse have a great range of blau nano tanks at the moment if yous havent seen them yet defo worth a look amazing prices for example the one i got 38.9 litres comes with filter hang on type very quite have a aqua one hang on filter on it to and that seems very noisey.the light seems very bright but dont have it on the tank coz the plastic clip broke.

have ADA amazonia substrate in it ment to be immense for plants so we ll see how that works out need a good ground cover plant.

not going down the planted tank route to much ill have some moss s and some ground cover plants its some times hard to tell the difference between shrimp tanks and planted tanks.

as far as im aware theres loads of so called nano plants for the small nano tanks.

tank has been filled tonight so at least 4to5 weeks till id even think of putting any shrimp in.

illl clip the light off the ebi onto it so yous can get an idea of what it ll look like.the bog wood in the corner will be replaced bye some nor wood once its soaked for a day then nuked in the micro wave for a few minutes so when its put back in it sinks and doesnt float.

beside the ebi see size difference

This looks very promising. Please keep us up to date with the progress on this tank.

Question : putting wood in the microwave ... does it really make it sink ? why ? I wonder and am curious.

Thanks - Valerie

If you pop in some Filter Floss, really cheap if you have an old Duvet, that's what's inside them !! put a small wad into the Filter, not too compact as it'll impede flow, as the Floss strips out the crap it will get clogged, the Water will ALWAYS be cleanest just before it needs to be changed.
