Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

i was going to paint the back with acrylic black paint but then came across a black vinyl wrap and have to say really dose look very well
it didnt take that long to do and was very cheap about 10euro for a big roll
i then placed the tank on the unit that i was going to have it permanently as i was not sure as in if it would hold the weight so i done a test and was holding not to here any crackin from the glass table
after testin it i wanted to try a few different bits off redmorr i had layin around to see wat would look best finally after about an hour off tryin a few different bits and in and out i came up with the one i wanted to use
so after i had the hard scape picked i then put in the substrate i went with ADA Aqua Soil NEW Amazonia as off its best for reducing the PH witch it perfect for Shrimp
i then left to cycle for a month as to the ADA releasing ammonia so i just dont 2 or 3 water changes a week to sort this
after that i then went and got Cuba as i want to have the whole bottom off the ground in Cuba
so tonight i got the Cuba and cut it up and planted it around the bottom off the tank
also i forgot to say i went and got another lighting unit as i didnt think i would have enough with just 11W so i went and got the same on as u can see in the photos so at the moment i have 22W witch i think should be well enough for the Cuba
next to do it to get some type off Moss the week not sure wat type but will see when it comes to it i will be addin this to all the branches off the redmorr witch i think would look very well
then after that to get a few shrimp as i said this is my first Shrimp tank so i will be starting with Cherrys and hopefully gettin them to breed and who knows maybe a while down the road ill get a few different types off shrimp
thanks for lookin
and if anyone has any ideas for the tank would love to here them
also sorry about haven to repost this as it got deleted by mistake

About the moss, tight it reay good to the wood, don't leave any floating pcs of the wood. Like on the last picture from my setup: www.irishfishkeepers.com/index.php/fforu...-27l-iwagumi-ow-cube . It will help with growth of it and with keep it tidy.
and I'll put some high plant like "rotala green" or "eleocharis vivipara" behind the root

That will give an extra dimension to the tank.
Dan.
Edit:
For how long is HC in the tank ?? I think You should already trim it to make it grow new runners to create nice carpet, also if You trim it regular You'll avoid large leaves.
