Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I am on a well.Payed for the drilling of the well, installing a treatment system and the permanent running costs(Pump,Salt for Watersoftner) and all the plumbing thousands. No service of the government required-and now they want to charge the well owners aswell.
So I say NO,NO.
P.s.As much I dont like the French,we should take them as an example - dont pay and bring the country(as little it takes)to a standstill.Everyone has to stick together and they will have their problems to bring the charges in.
Regards,Tim

As time goes by, I am getting less and less tolorant of stupidity and also angry for being taken for granted but mainly because those in power treat us all as Idiots because some are too bloody gullible to know when they are being made a Fool of, like those B"@TA*DS who try selling you Broadband, guaranteeing you UP to 8mb of Broadband knowing full well that the area you are in cannot possibly supply anything near 8mb, I can only get 3 mb irrespective of the promises and because they guarantee UP to 8mb they impose a cap of 30 gb per Month !! CHEAPO IRELAND AT IT'S BEST.
I hate Ireland inc, NOT THE IRISH, we are among, if not the best of People, resourceful, innovative, funny and talented but we lack an anger, a sense of knowing we deserve more for all we have given over hundreds of years of servility and being down trodden, we should say enough is enough but not in defense of our own agenda but of a common one, fair play and Honesty.
In the past we have supported our own Agendas but that is selfish because once individual demands are met , everyone else can go to hell, we should have a list of demands and settle for no less.
The Authorities in Ireland are actually prepared for Civil unrest and are actually expecting it.

Do you really think that the IMF are going to pay 1 blind bit of notice to this??
Because its the IMF and the bailout that is causing FG to impliment the water charges on us.
Get used to the fact that WE WILL have water charges very soon.
1 of these can be quite usefull,if you still feel hard done by and want to still have and use water for free.
P.S-Instead of signing thse pointless petitions,it would be more noticable if half of Ireland got up off their ar5es and actually blockaded/barracaded in Leninster House.
Ireland is a guttless nation in the modern age,we complain about things in newspapers and on the radio,TV and internet, but we never get out and march to protest, and no amount of online petitions will change that.
Half a million people on the streets blockading Leinster House with all the TDs inside might do something, but as for an online petition??
Not a hope in hell.Sorry if you dont like reading this, but thats the cold hard facts of it.
