Bloody Hell!
×
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I dont like and dont watch any of the gobshites feeding live anything to fish, ya cant playmusic now on youtube but they dont have a problem uploading a frog or goldfish half eaten swim round a tank, with mindless comments from the subhuman's that upload such stuff. (oh nice fish thou)

Lets start with the positives. Beautiful fish and obviously no financial worries about keeping these fish as they can afford to throw away money feeding them live fish that others would keep as prized fish.
Now can I ask where this forum stands on showing videos containing cruelty. These guys are feeding live fish to large predators with no chance of survival. this is the second video in recent weeks with cruelty. The other being Ian operating on fish that was not sedated.
While some will consider the feeding of live food to be ok I think that the forum needs to be clear on what it allows be posted. I started to watch the operation and then switched it off. I personally find this unacceptable viewing material on a site that has younger subscribers. I can exercise my own discretion in what I watch and if the forum is ok with this content then thats what I shall do.
I am not trying to cause any trouble for anyone but would like to know what the forum thinks

I agree Pat but it's an age old arguement, a lame one in particular is the " It's the best way to view Fish behaving naturally" An Aquarium is NOT a natural place to start with and I detest Feeding live Fish to anything. However, I think it's an uphill battle because as such, it is not deemed by the authorities to be illegal albeit distasteful. It unfortunately comes down to personal taste and unfortunately, in many cases this taste includes feeding live Animals to other Animals.
The fact that, to a degree, freedom of expression and speech, once within the law, is a part of life.
Maybe the Admin might add a Button or new catagory that will prevent anyone that might be upset by any footage linked on pages of the Forum, ie. a Red exclaimation mark or requirement that the Poster advise of the content.
While the footage I posted is viewable by all ages and dispositions, the footage is also available to visitors to Youtube without any need for screening by Age or by content.
