Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

here is some not so good quality video of my frog tank. There are also some goldfish and loach in there too.

s68.photobucket.com/albums/i24/goldy_200...t=fishythings081.flv

The tank is a Trigon 190l with a tetratec 1200 external and the internal jewel filter. The frogs are zenopus Laevis african clawed frogs. I have 3 types in the tank. I have the brown clawed frogs and then I have the albinos which are most commonly sold in the lfs and also the reticulated albinos. The males are the smaller frogs and the inside of their hands is black. The larger ones are the ladies (typical)

One of them is a rescue who was going to be flushed down the toilet. She had broken legs and a hole in her hip. I treated her with antibiotics (thanks Fr Jack) and tlc and she is grand. She looks a bit rough though where the bones have healed. The other big lady is called Rana (Spanish for frog) she has a fluid retention problem. This was a major concern but it doesnt seem to bother her a bit. There is a blockage in her lymph system and when it gets really bad I treat the tank with nacl commmon table salt and this reduces the fluid a bit. I was afraid that it would kill her but not a bother on her at all.

The croaking is funny when someone new comes into the house as they are too polite to ask what the noise is but they are looking around the room wondering where it is coming from. The kids get great fun out of watching them play twister.....

The goldfish are really lively too. Cosmo, Wanda and Little Yellow. Wanda, the white one has a broken jaw from fighting with the orange goldfish over food when they were much smaller. This healed and causes no problems at all. There is a dennison barb in there becuase I couldnt catch him to take him out and a weather loach who loves to bury himself in the sand. There is also a large bristlenose in the log in the middle who doesnt do a very good job on the plants.

Hi Nessa,

Thank you for sharing this video with us! It's interesting to see them going down/up, in movement all the time.

As for me having frogs in my tank, I couldn't possibly !...
I'd be constantly thinking about which sauce to prepare to accompany their... Mmmm.... lovely legs !!!

Not working for me either, must be a photobucket issue as it worked for Valerie earlier it seems.

Or maybe they heard what Valerie said and what I think ;-)

Hi Goldy,

Are you sure this video is still on your photobucket account. Did you move it to a different album or something like that.
When clicking on the link, all I get is a photobucket blank screen. Maybe the url is different that what is stored in your 1st post.

(The video would be too large to be stored on the website!)

Hope this helps.

Not for me.

I just get a blank page and if I try breaking up the link, back to \"frogs\", I get a log-in page.
