Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

This features the main hall only, there was a separate coldwater and invert room and some of the sponsor shops and the IHS display were in another room.

This was filmed from about 9am Saturday morning right through to about 8pm Sunday night.

That's the fastest I've ever moved!

A really good record of the day - that's about as quick as it seemed to pass by for me, no sooner had we got everything set up it seems as though it was being dismantled again.
Thanks for doing this Daragh.

LoL

I did it for the laugh, but other things got priority and a few times it had timed out before I climbed the ladder and restarted it. It was meant to run from before we did anything until the very end. I stupidly unplugged it about 2 hours after the video above stopped, but because I did not stop the recording first the last bit was corrupt. Anyway, you get the idea...

The people sitting around early on were watching Anton Lamboj's presentation, in case anyone think we took long tea breaks during the set up!

I believe you, thousands wouldn't.

We certainly did get through a lot of tea though!

that video was in violation of the copyright protection act 1988, i do believe wen this music is played you MUST have scantily clad ladies running around, benny hill would be turning in his grave. (maybe next year?) great video

Check out the angling section, it is fantastic

You could run a novel competition from that......

describe the top worn by the person who appears for the longest (not necessarily in one place though)within the video.

Or who was hanging around chatting near the door on the right for longest?

The prize could be to be filmed running a la Benny Hill round a public park feeding ducks. :)

a great idea to do this Daragh and it just shows the activity and effort of all those involved in the creation of the show day itself.

I was dying to see how this turned out and its brilliant. its a pity it didnt go to the end so you could see the hall back to empty but still it really turned out well. what a laugh. you can see the brightness of the day and then all through the night and then when the sponsors come in to set up its sunday morning but the activity never really stopped over night at all. hard work but a great result.

I dont know how you do it Daragh. As if you hadn't got enough to do over the weekend you still made time to set this up. You must run on Duracell.

It's a pity we didn't have the streaker this year. It would have really blended in with the video and the Benny Hill theme;)

Seeing the video is what it felt like in real time. 20,000 laps of the hall before a fish was even looked at:laugh:

Darragh fair play, for all us who just visited the show on Sunday that 2 and a half minute video really does say it all about the preparation that had to be done the day before, not forgetting all the preparation that has been going on for the last number of weeks when no camera was present. Well done to all involved:) :) :) :) :)
