Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

You wouldn't belive the maint that is involved in this tank, almost daily. I can't commit to that for the next year or so so I gotta rather than let the fish suffer less maint that it really needs.
Tis a piece of me going too no doubt:(
What can ye do, I aint the first to have to do this.

It is a real hard thing to have to do - I know, having had to do the same several times in my 'career'.
Best wishes for the future - don't be a stranger.

Was made redundant last year, unemployemtn allowance has run out and now they have cut off my payments altogether.
The amount of tax I paid and now they expect the other half to support me totally, it is a complete joke, rent €1100 alone, baby on the way, I have an 13 year old son, I don't claim rent allowance or anything else, they told me this after making me jump though a few hoops too.
I asked if I lived with a man would this be the same, the lady said no, but I cant change it now, I said, I am not asking you to change it I just want to know that, she confirmed that that is the case, so I would have been better off pulling some sort of scam to get money I actually need right now.
Well there you have it, Billions into Bonuses for AIB and a hard working citizen like myself gets shafted by the Irish government and system again. Apalling, they tried to talk to me like a 3 year old.
My health has not been the best these last two years, that being the main reason I have not jumped back into work, as well as the lack of jobs in my sector, lots of false posts by agencies to get you to send em a CV, have wasted lots of time applying for IT jobs that probably didn't exist.
I see poverty is coming back into fashion big time. Ireland heading for the 80s again with a huge gap between AIB types and everyone else. Education cut by 25% OMFG, Fianna Fail have really done it, Bertie Ahern I hope you are happy.

Tanks are pretty much gone Gerry, a chap is taking em both tomorrow I think. I cna do it all again anyways, but much bigger next time, 10 foot planted for my plecos and Loaches.
One thing really anooying me seeing as it is a recession, I have not even got interviews because of my experience and qualifications, as if I am going to leave in 6 months in this climate, its crazy that the recruiting practices haven't changed now people are NOT leaving jobs.
My last job was in infrastructure at a top reinsurance firm, yet I cannot even get an interview to support Xbox gamers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????????????????????
CRUMBS!?!
Gotta keep lookin.

Next time Mick my vids will have a purpose and not just thrown up. Maybe a proper vid with all the details of the tank water params gear and reasoning as t why I did it this way, including the making of it too, that what I should have done as there ae some great threads on here of such work.
Xeon, tou are too kind, really appreciated.
Ye know ye aint a bad bunch at all:)
I think I will need to talk to Mossy before I do anything, he's the 10 foot Loach tank man with tthe plan.

I have to get my hourse in order with a larger tank before I have to start parting with fish though some may go, anyways as to home all of em, the tank would need to be larger than I can manage indoors I reckon.
