Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

My Cats was created by Ma (mm mm)
A home for my catfish, needed redoing as some more fish have left the nest. A bit closer to where I want to end up with this setup.

Rocks instead of gravel, sloped, well large ones getting smaller as you go from right to left, making a natural slope that wont even out like gravel does eventually, I dont want to add terracing, lots of powerhead flow, between 5000 6000lph hopefully and a pair of dual TMC aquaarrays and T5s for algae on the rocks. Lots of bogwood of course and some very hardy plants

Something like this.

There are 9 Clown Loach 5" to 2" and 5 Botia Dario 4"

I have just used someof the stones on my Nano, hoping to get my 2 BNs to spawn in here, smaller scale this is, I will be doing similar stone work with the 450 in the vid.

Was gonna use a UG filter and no sand. Would a UG take the rock on it?

I don't know but they do look very nice, distinct bristles on the male.

Do you know where they come from?

Only the lfs, Kinsealy.

I am sure the adults are common enough though, I found some that look similar to the small last one, hoping someone would know off the top of their head.

He's got quite a bushy face alright, have them about a year, Bronson he's called after Charles Bronson and Bronsette his other half:)

Love the names!

I would say the last one is a common bristlenose, Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus.

On Planet catfish:

www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=49

Not sure about the two adults, they look a bit "wild looking" to me, hopefully someone else will have an idea.

I got em in Balbriggan.

Beware, even after boiling scrubbing and baking, they still smelled up the water. It was a week of daily 50% water changes, only a 90L tank, before I was happy to put the plecos in. Just FYI matey.

@John

The leaves and cones are doing a fantastic job on the water, cats are very happy indeed, I have some in a breeding net mesh bag, and leave soak it in each bucket, instantly leeches into the water. Very very happy with the results.:)
