Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Jill;
Do you have any abrasive volcanic rock in that tank? I ask because I saw a similar scenario with a couple of my younger Malawis, when I watched to see what was happening I spotted that they were 'browsing' for algae on the rock and it was making their lips look just like your Peacock's does.

I hope it's the same for your fish as mine, it soon cleared up but returns if they start on that rock again - perhaps I should remove it.

Do you think I should seperate him from the others for a while till he heals up Anthony ?

He is chasing others about a lot but I have seen no fighting at all today.

Leave him alone.
Eventually it will settle down a bit. It will probably end up with him being the battered one. Jacobfreibergi are not the most powerful fish.

Other than my red empress male he is the most colourful fish in the tank. He won't take on my red empress as he is bigger than him but I can't see who if he is scrapping, he is scrapping with, None of the other males have a white mouth. :?

I will as you suggest leave him be and let it happen.

Thanks Mate.

They are not a fery strong fish and should not be kept with any mbuna or aggressive Haps.
Coruleus and Acei would be fine though.

The only mbuna I have are 2 labs.

This Jacob seems to be holding his own. He has quite a firey temper on him but still no lip locking.

I can see the tank as I am on the computer because it faces the tank.

All he seems to be doing is chasing everything and anything. No specific fish male or female. :?

He leaves the Red empress totally alone male or female. The rest seem fair game though no matter what the size. :?

About three weeks ago and its healing very very slowly but has there is no fungus so I am not worried.

P.s I know Fxxxxx all about these fish I got 5 fish imported from the lakes direct about 3 months ago, all are supposed to be males and all are over 6 inches, one is coopered colour with little blue like yours, and the other four are 40% completely electric blue without hardly any copper.

That would be a ecumenical matter!!!
