Mistery Death

Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

I just arrived home and found an angel dead, he showed no signs of anything prior to death or after death, was in an rekord 80 with, 3 swordtails, 4 guppys, 14 neon tetras, 3 small plattys, 4or 5 pepered corys and a few snails.
the paramitors are
Nitrate Between 0-5ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Amonia 0ppm
pH 6.4
the Ph is not usually this low it is usually about 7.
it is well planted and has 2 airators, there is 3 plants with some dying leaves.
Any suggestions as to what happend?
the only thing i would guess is the pH or the fact its been an extra 5 days then usual since i cleaned it but i dont think that could have caused it?

First off I'd like to say that that is a lot of fish for an 80l tank, but your water seems fine.
What filtration are you running?
Personally I cannot seem to keep angels alive for any length of time.
They seem to very weak fish and don't tolerate any poor water condition for long.

Sometimes fish just die, apart from the Ph change there is nothing obvious to me anyway.
Scoop him out, throw him in the bin and move on.
In my experience community fish generally die off from time to time for no reason at all. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the help.
I know it was over crowded but iv been trying to save up for another tank but unfortuntaly its been very hard not that im in college.
Im using the filterbox that came with it. Iv also been meaning to get an external filter for it but once again money is not flowing as freely as i would like.

Externals are ideal but internals do the job too. Keep on top of your water changes and you will be fine. Keep it simple, clean water = healthy fish.
Also, Angelfish require a fairly large tank for them to really flourish. The smaller tank probably isn't ideal for them. When i started out i had an Angelfish in a small 50ltr tank, he lived for a while but eventually just died. He just wasn't in the right environment.
Anyway we live and learn, sure it was only last week that i killed a massive healthy Frontosa by keeping him warm in transport and ultimately denying him much needed oxygen.

That is a massie drop in pH. How long did it take to drop. It it went the other way(up) it would not be
as bad but dropping suddenly(IF IT DID) like that is a no no.
A Rekord 80 is too small for one Angel.

the last time i checked it was nearly 2 weeks ago before the water change and it was about 6.8-7 at the time. I know that now but at the time when i got it i was told it was plenty big another one of those garden centers giving bad advice. as i said above i planned on getting a bigger tank but unfortunatly it just hasnt worked out.
