Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Let me say firstly, if there was no White spot in the Tank a few weeks ago then it was introduced, it doesn't just appear out of the blue, water perameters etc should not " cause " it, it must be introduced merely on the basis that it needs a host to reproduce and survive. I lost over 100 Tetras a few weeks ago, so quickly it had to be seen, I know for a fact that there is a virulent strain around at present, Dayo in Petstop managed to cure a big batch of Blue Acaras and it took an absolute age to cure but he did, you could ask him.

yeah I have turned it up to 27, have you ever heard of treating it with tonic salts at a high temp?? I was told that could work but nervous to try after treating the tank so much in the last few weeks.

When people suggest raising the Temperature they mean @ 30 deg c to 32 depending on the inhabitants of the Tank.

dont add salt, It will only add to your problem, exit is a longer course than three days (to get the whole life cycle) so it may take more time for it to completely work itself out (if at all) there are now some very virulent strains knocking about(thanks to constant needless medication by breeder and catchers in the far east and europe) and I find that most meds tend not to work no as a result. Scaleless fish such as loaches rays etc are very prone to developing white spot.Copper meds are very hard on them and most companies will tell you not to use them.I successfully treated a whole bay of around 70 discus in the last week by raising the temperature slowly to 32 (no more than 1 deg per day they were covered and no they are not..)lots of fish will carry carry the white spot parasite and their own immune system when all the water perameters are correct will tend to keep it at bay.If however the fish are stressed they will express it.This topic about white spot should be a sticky as it is a very common problem.
dont make me come over there.
