Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Not sure what the eel is. Its too skinny/slender for a bearded rockling. Very likely to be a juvenile Conger eel. Do a google on "juvenile Conger" it so you can compare the pictures with yours. If it is then it will technically outgrow the tank at some stage (They grow to 1.5m+
. They are night active so he might only feed at night.The goby might be a rock goby but there is many very similar gobies and difficult to say.

Holy sh1t man it is exactly the same as the conger pics I found, can't believe I have a conger eel that's deadly looking forward to seeing it grow Now, hope it doesn't grow to fast
Don't think il put my hand in any more, but I do need to stabilise the rocks more doh!!

I was watching him last night after the lights went out and finally got to see lots of him and I was amazed with his behaviour from routing around the sand to his stealth behaviour around the rock work
Pet some brine shrimp in but still not interested in it maybe tonight he might have a bit
I think the goby is Deffo a rock goby cause it never gos near the sand and loves to perch himself at strange angles on the rocks, never seen a fish so greedy for food he's an animal he eats seaweed all the frozens flakes and pellets both algea and the normal ones

Yeah the rock gobi and gobies in general are extremely voracious. He will pull hermits out of the shell too if he gets a chance. Nice to see when they have appetite
Great observations on the conger, would love to see that. If possible a video would be great and some more pics. Try to feed actual white fish meat (small pieces) when the lights are already out and see if he goes for that as they are scavengers too.

Well Dublin is a bit too far but I hope you find someone otherwise I am sure they wont be too unhappy if you return them to the wild
