Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)

Hi,

John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.

I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.

With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.

I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.

If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.

I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.

I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.

Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

We have all our ups and downs (as a worst experience of mine you can take my iwagumi project fail) and we all do improve (as my fail on iwagumi ended in great nano plant health trough previously made mistakes in plant care, bad experience is also experience). My co2 set isn't the cheapest. I went into seahorse with good bit of my hang-over and instead of purchasing just fire extinguisher as a co2 tank I've got a blinky BLAU 2.3kg tank . actually I'm 100% happy with it just it topped up my cost of my co2 system for 140€. Ask in Seahorse for D-D co2 set (ask fir Darren to get best support and advice). You will have complete set with 2kg tank and valve and selenoid, and diffuser just for 130€ - truly best price around. And I know a guy who has it for 3+ years and no issues whatsoever. I paid for my complete set about 250€ and everything was purchased separately. To supply nano with gas it will take extra 25 quit to top it op once in a 8-12months. I have a plan to use my co2 on 2 nanos just adding to my selenoid 2 way co2 spliter (23€ from co2-art in ebay). So co2 system is a good investment and your plants will only benefit.

Heh. It looks like I finally reached the balance and saturation needed in my water. Looks like all elements do great job when dosed in appropriate amounts. This is my Salvinia Natans after Co2 is off for an hour (before main lights turns off). Pearling like a mad (actually did not expect these plants pearling as only roots are in the water)

(Sorry for photo quality, just playing lazy with my phone snap-shots)

the salvinia looks great. it's such a lush, goodlooking plant... though technically the "root" is another modified leaf, but that's semantics ;)

good look with the planting. I plan on getting round to that myself this summer
