Retirement and forum shutdown (17 Jan 2022)
Hi,
John Howell who has managed the forum for years is getting on and wishes to retire from the role of managing it.
Over the years, he has managed the forum through good days and bad days and he has always been fair.
He has managed to bring his passion for fish keeping to the forum and keep it going for so long.
I wish to thank John for his hard work in keeping the forum going.
With John wishing to "retire" from the role of managing the forum and the forum receiving very little traffic, I think we must agree that forum has come to a natural conclusion and it's time to put it to rest.
I am proposing that the forum be made read-only from March 2022 onwards and that no new users or content be created. The website is still registered for several more years, so the content will still be accessible but no new topics or replies will be allowed.
If there is interest from the ITFS or other fish keeping clubs, we may redirect traffic to them or to a Facebook group but will not actively manage it.
I'd like to thank everyone over the years who helped with forum, posted a reply, started a new topic, ask a question and helped a newbie in fish keeping. And thank you to the sponsors who helped us along the away. Hopefully it made the hobby stronger.
I'd especially like to thank John Howell and Valerie Rousseau for all of their contributions, without them the forum would have never been has successful.
Thank you
Darragh Sherwin

Not sure if this is the right place for this post as its gonna be mix of everything (planted tanks, DIY, equipment etc.) but i think "planted heads" will be interested in it the most.
I was planning to set up this fish room for last 12 months. The plan was to finish around march but had to verified my plan.
i'm in the middle of constacting racks now (should finish this week) but I would like to present my bumpy road as it wasn't easy.
There is link to my post from last year wherein I mentioned about this project: www.irishfishkeepers.com/index.php?optio...97&Itemid=145#157642
Nothing changed in my "temporary" setup over the last 12 months.
Stage 1: Fight for space

my first plan was to setup fish room in main living room as it was a storage any way but my fiancee said "my way or highway"

and this way i've lost 4 months converting storage in to living room.
Thanks to this i have old living room just for myself

Fish room tanks:
4 x 250 l.
1 x 200 l.
2 x 160 l.
1 x 160 l. long
2 x 70 l. cubic
2 x 54 l.
total: 12 tanks - 1928 l.
Ok, that would be it for introduction, more details and pictures tommorow.
Thanks for reading,
Peter.

below more details and pics on fish room progress:
Plan of the room.
sorry for my poor drawings

space marked with green stripes is where i can place tanks,
in the corner beside fireplace there will be rack holding 2x160 l. and 2x70 l. cubic
and on main wall there will be double rack holding 4x250 l. plus 160 long (4 ft.) and two 2 ft. on the top
between two sections there is shelfs for filters and storage.
construction design:
i169.photobucket.com/albums/u217/tdcraig...project/_DSC3328.jpg
and thats 250 l. tanks, gonna remove dividers in two of them and put corner suports at the top
beside main rack there is still 1,95m left to the kitchen door, gonna leave my 200 l. as it is now, and maybe replace it with 5/6 footer in the future
and now some construction photos:

Anthony you were right, she was trying already to fit dining table in to the fish room

My advice would be to change the lock on the fish room door
